Design Process

From vision to completion, we offer a full suite of interior design services tailored to each project’s unique brief and context.

Client Brief

At this stage, we start by listening closely to the client's and operator's goals, vision, and requirements.

Concept Design

Our ideas take shape through narratives, mood boards, and spatial planning. Here, we establish the project's identity, atmosphere, and creative direction.

Schematic Design

The design evolves into layouts, elevations, and renderings that define flow, scale, and spatial organization.

Mock-Up Package

It normally includes a king and a twin guestroom, along with a portion of the corridor. A complete drawing package, specifications, and material boards allow sample rooms to be built and tested before the full hotel is constructed.

Design Development

Comments from the Mock-Up Package review are applied, with modifications made to the approved room types. Development then continues across all remaining guestroom types and public areas, with drawing packages coordinated with the wider consultant team, including architects, MEP, lighting, and kitchen design.

Tender Package

Building on the Design Development phase, the tender package combines the completed technical drawings with the General Finishes Specifications, Sanitary Fixtures and Fittings, and Door and Ironmongery schedules. Supplier and manufacturer details are included to support the tendering process.

FF&E Documentation

A detailed FF&E specification is developed, covering furniture, fabrics, and finishes. It includes technical specifications, supplier information, and selected detail drawings to guide procurement and manufacturing.

Construction Supervision

Our involvement continues. Our team provides periodical site visits, shop drawing reviews, material and sample approval, and coordination with the project team to ensure the design intention is carried through to completion.

Journal

The David Kempinski (Architectural Digest)

We are delighted to share some exciting news: the pages of Architectural Digest have showcased our most recent project at the David Kempinski Hotel in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The Padma Semarang

At studio ara, we see every project as an adventure, but our latest with Padma Semarang stands apart, taking us on a journey through history itself. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve worked with the Padma brand before.

The Setai Tel Aviv

Adaptive Reuse and Heritage Preservation give new purpose to old structures, illuminating their potential in the modern world. In hospitality, it transforms historic buildings into unique hotels, marrying old-world charm with contemporary needs.

Work with us

Studio ara collaborates with hotel operators, developers, architects and artists around the world.

Whether you’re reaching out with a project in mind or just exploring possibilities, we welcome new conversations, inquiries and creative partnerships.
