An Intimate Retreat on the Shores of the Dead Sea

Kayma Luxury Collection is an intimate 44-room retreat on the shores of the Dead Sea, surrounded by the vast desert landscape of southern Israel. One of Isrotel’s newest and most exclusive destinations, the project brings a contemporary hospitality experience to one of the region’s most dramatic landscapes.

The Brief

The Kayma called for a careful balance: creating a refined hospitality experience while remaining sensitive to the rare landscape and rich history of the Dead Sea. The aim was to draw from the colours, textures and contrasts of the desert and salt flats, and translate these unique characteristics into a unified visual language.

The Concept

The concept takes shape through a restrained material palette and an emphasis on form, proportion and perspective. Local stone, white plaster and warm timber create a sense of earthy elegance, while sculptural details draw more subtly from the landscape, from hanging lights reminiscent of salt crystals to low, curved furnishings that extend the eye towards the horizon. Together, these elements create interiors that feel calm, tactile and quietly connected to the landscape beyond.

The Highlight

Kayma Luxury Collection takes a distinctly low-rise approach, setting it apart from the high-rise developments that dominate the Dead Sea shoreline. Organized around a central infinity pool, the resort’s horizontal layout creates a more intimate sense of scale, allowing for greater privacy, fluid circulation and a closer relationship between architecture, landscape and shared guest spaces.

The Result

The completed resort offers an intimate hospitality experience shaped around its relationship with the Dead Sea. Low-rise planning, natural materials and carefully framed views keep the water, desert horizon and changing light present throughout, while creating a sense of privacy, comfort and quiet refinement.

“At the Kayma, every space reflects the meeting of sun, sky, salt, and sea: an interplay of light and material that mirrors the unique drama of the Dead Sea.”
